Jarrett, Daniels Shine In TNA PPV

Listen up! Class is in session. Here's the winners from Sunday's Total Nonstop Action Wresting pay-per-view. TNA, if you don't know already, is WWE's primary national competition. The event: "Destination X," from sunny Orlando, Fla. As usual, my predictions were right on. Sort of. Here's the card:Challenge Match: The Alpha Male Monty Brown vs. Trytan
What Should Happen: Brown, who was just in the NWA title picture a few months ago, should win easily here.
What Will Happen:
Brown gets the clean pin.
What Did Happen:
Trytan, billed as some sort of alien, left the ring when things got tough. The ref stopped the match -- no decision. That one was a head-scratcher.
Bullrope Match: Dustin Rhodes vs. Raven
What Should Happen: Dustin, formerly Goldust, son of Dusty, should get the win over Raven. Some Web critics are ripping these two for not working a stronger program. They've been entertaining in the past, and there's no reason they can't be again. Perhaps total makeovers for both? Stranger things have happened, especially for these two.
What Will Happen: Rhodes, especially with dad serving as TNA's "Director of Authority," wins the gimmick match.
What Did Happen: Rhodes gets the pin.Falls Count Anywhere: Jeff Hardy vs. Abyss
What Should Happen: On paper, the monster Abyss should cream the acrobat Hardy. But this is being billed as the climax match between these two, and I don't see how you can devalue a name player like Hardy with a loss.
What Will Happen: Hardy pins Abyss cleanly, but as far away from the ring as possible.
What Did Happen: Hardy -- clean pin, but Abyss tossed him onto a mat full of tacks afterwards. This is not over!
First Blood Match: Kevin Nash vs. The Outlaw
What Should Happen: Nash takes on ex-WWE star, Billy Gunn. The Outlaw interfered in Nash's title match against Jeff Jarrett in the last TNA PPV, setting up this tilt. If I ran the show, Gunn -- working as the heel -- would get a freakish pin where Nash doesn't look weak in the end. Why bring in big-name talent if he's going to lose his first big match? It doesn't make sense.
What Will Happen: But the again, I doubt Nash would sign a contract where he loses an undercard match. With that sound logic, Nash wins cleanly.
What Did Happen: So much for sound logic. Nash drew first blood in the match, but while the ref was down -- Gunn's lawyer bandaged him up quick. Jarrett hit Nash with the NWA belt, drew "second" blood, but the ref didn't know the difference and The Outlaw won.Ultimate X Challenge Match: A.J. Styles vs. Christopher Daniels vs. Primetime Elix Skipper vs. Ron Killings
What Should Happen: The match, it should be the highlight of the show, as most X-Division matches are. Here, all four men will start off in a tag team match with the first person pinned, eliminated. Then it's every man for himself in a triple-threat match. The first man pinned, is out. The two remaining wrestlers then face off in an "Ultimate X" match, where the winner grabs the X-Division belt suspended above the ring. So what should happen? Mayhem. Acrobatics. But in the end, Styles to retain.
What Will Happen: The best wrestler on the planet keeps his gold. Styles, probably over Daniels in the final.
What Did Happen: The best wrestler on the planet faced off against Daniels in the final match. Styles had the belt in his hands at the end, but while the ref was knocked out, Daniels grabbed it. When the ref recovered, he awarded Daniels the title.
NWA Heavyweight Title Match: Jeff Jarrett vs. Diamond Dallas Page
What Should Happen: Page says "It's time" for him to be NWA champ. Maybe he's right, but I just don't see that happening right now. Jarrett, as a good heel should, will somehow use his guitar to klonk DDP on the head and seal the deal.
What Will Happen: Jarrett with the controversial pin, and the win.
What Did Happen: Babyface Monty Brown interfered at the end, turning heel and costing DDP the match. Jarrett retains with a controversial pin.
That's it. For the record, the Prof predicted half of the big matches correctly. Again, batting .500 in the big leagues gets me in the Hall of Fame. Just where I belong. Comments, compliments, complaints? Send me an e-mail right here. Class dismissed!(Professor Wrestling is a masked employee of Internet Broadcasting Systems.
