New Reality Shows Take It To The Edge

No Opportunity Wasted, Home Extreme Makeover Among New Shows

POSTED: 6:24 am MST January 15, 2004

Reality TV fans, get ready. More reality shows are the works and unlike some of the popular shows now ("Average Joe" "My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance") there are a couple of series you wouldn't be too embarassed to appear in if you were selected.

NOW or No Opportunity Wasted

Have you ever made a list of the everything you wanted to do before you die? What would you do if you were given $3,000, 72 hours and a chance to do just that? That's the idea behind a Discovery Channel series called "NOW" or "No Opportunity Wasted."

"No Opportunity Wasted is your chance to create your own headline. Seek out new experiences, face your fears. Take a leap of faith, let go of the handrails and swerve off the road you've been following for years," said the show's creator Phil Keoghan.

Keoghan, who is also behind the CBS series "Amazing Race," said the idea is to give people a chance to fulfill a lifelong dream, to live their three days as if it would be their last.

If you don't want to change your life how about changing your house? ABC is looking for homes that need to undergo an extreme makeover. Give them one week and a team of designers and 100 workmen will renovate your entire home, moving walls, replacing floors and radically changing the facade.

If you don't think your entire home needs to be leveled, but need help with your home repair projects that have gone terribly wrong, the Learning Channel's "In a Fix" can help.

And if you don't want a change yourself or your home, how about doing your small part to change a friend's look? Sign them up for the ""Ambush Makeover."

If you want to apply for any of these shows, better hurry. The deadline for "No Opportunity Wasted" is Jan. 31.
