A mother and son from Monument are getting a second chance on the realty TV show "Amazing Race."

Margie Adams and her son Luke have been invited back to compete against other teams who have run the race in the past.

The Adamses came in third when they ran the race during Season 14.

"The challenge this time is that the competitors already know the ropes, so it will be an even more intense competition," Margie told the Colorado Springs Gazette.

Luke Adams was the first deaf contestant on the show. Luke only signs and does not read lips, which meant his mother often had to help him communicate.

Since their last appearance on "Amazing Race," Luke has done motivational speaking, according to the newspaper.

His mother is a nurse and clinical research associate.

Fans of the show and the Adams can watch the show premiere with them Sunday.

"At Old Chicago on Woodmen, come watch the show with us," Margie said.
