JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- If you visit Blazin Reptiles in Mandarin, Fla., you might recognize one of the cold-blooded critters. The bearded dragon lizard is in a GEICO insurance commercial playing the mean temporary lizard, filling in for the familiar gecko, Jacksonville television station, WJXT reported."They called us and asked us to overnight him to California for GEICO," said Stephen Brezil, the store's owner said.
He doesn't have a name, but he now has a face that's nationally known -- if you can tell lizards apart, that is."They had a blast using him," Brezil said. "He'll let you do anything you want. He'll sit straight up. He doesn't care what you do."The lizard is the one animal in the store not for sale. He's definitely the most popular there, after standing in for probably the most well-known reptile this side of Kermit the frog."You know, I thought it was interesting because we started out as such a small-time store," Brezil said. "It's kind of becoming cool. Kind of like a little celebrity thing."
