Keys Tops American Music Award Nominations

Singer Up For 5 Trophies, Including Artist Of The Year

Alicia Keys grabbed a leading five nominations Tuesday for the the American Music Awards.

Coldplay and the Eagles are right behind Keys with four nods each.

Keys, Coldplay and the Eagles are all up for Artist of the Year, along with Chris Brown and Lil Wayne.

Keys is up for Favorite Female Artist in the Pop/Rock category, where she will face off against Mariah Carey and Rihanna. Brown is vying for Best Male Artist, Pop/Rock, along with Kid Rock and Usher.

Coldplay and the Eagles earned nominations in the Pop/Rock category for Best Duo or Group, along with Daughtry -- the band of former "American Idol" runner-up Chris Daughtry.

Performers for the event include Rihanna, Ne-Yo, Taylor Swift, the Pussycat Dolls and New Kids on The Block.

The AMAs hand out honors in 20 categories in all, including Pop/Rock, Country, Soul/Rhythm & Blues and Rap/Hip-Hop, Latin, Alternative, Contemporary Inspirational and Adult Contemporary.

Winners are determined by fan voting online. The AMAs will take place in Los Angeles on Nov. 23 in Los Angeles.
