Listen up!

Class is in session.

WWE's "No Mercy" is history. Who won the big bouts at Sunday's PPV? And did my predictions come true? Only one way to find out -- read on!

Podcast: 'Old School, New School' -- Episode 87

WWE Women's Championship Match: Beth Phoenix (c) vs. Candice Michelle
What Should Happen: Phoenix should win. I'm not sure why the Go-Daddy girl is even in the ring anymore. She certainly isn't in a league with Phoenix, so why is she on the card? I can't figure it out, which is unusual for me -- I am a grappling genius, after all.

What Will Happen: Santino Marella will screw this up for his girlfriend, Phoenix -- and Candice will win.

What Did Happen: Santino almost screwed it up, but Phoenix won anyway.

Mask Match: Kane vs. Rey Mysterio
What Should Happen: If Kane wins, Mysterio has to unmask. Shades of WCW! He's already been down this road. If Vince McMahon has any shred of decency -- he won't let this happen. Instead, if Kane loses -- he should be forced to put his mask back on! Kane has never done much for me without the mask. It's not that he's ugly or anything. Well, yes he is. Get a mask on this guy.

What Will Happen: Mysterio will get the Davey pin over the Goliath Kane.

What Did Happen: Mysterio won, but by DQ after Kane hit him with a chair.

Challenge Match: Undertaker vs. The Big Show
What Should Happen: I didn't think Batista versus Taker would be a good series of matches, but it was. Can UT get the same result out of Show? I don't know, but I'm hoping this will be short if it's plodding and dull. But something tells me this one could be a surprising hit. For that to happen, I think we need Show to get the upset victory.

What Will Happen: No need to squash Show, who is getting a big "Smackdown!" push. He'll win.

What Did Happen: Show knocked out Undertaker for the TKO win.

No. 1 Contenders Match: Batista vs. JBL
What Should Happen: The winner gets a shot at the RAW championship. That being said, JBL is weird, and has a weird "I'm definitely way-over-40" look these days. Batista, meanwhile, has earned his spot in the top tier, and seems really out of place as a mid-carder. For that reason alone he should win this one.

What Will Happen: Bet the farm on Batista.

What Did Happen: Batista took care of JBL in about six minutes.

ECW Championship Match: Matt Hardy (c) vs. Mark Henry
What Should Happen: Poor Matt Hardy. He's the ECW champion, and no one really knows it. Why? Because he's stuck on Sci-Fi, and I'm not exactly sure if anyone is watching. Also, the best WWE can do is stick in a match against the lumbering Mr. Henry. Keep it short, and let Hardy win we can see him in a program with someone who can actually wrestle.

What Will Happen: Hardy will keep his ECW title.

What Did Happen: Hardy pinned Henry to retain.

WWE Championship Match: Triple H (c) vs. Jeff Hardy
What Should Happen: Poor Jeff Hardy. So close, but a bridesmaid once again. At least he gets to headline pay-per-views. Too bad it's against the owner's son-in-law.

What Will Happen: Triple H will keep his belt.

What Did Happen: Good match, as Triple H pinned Hardy to retain.

World Heavyweight Championship Match: Chris Jericho (c) vs. Shawn Michaels
What Should Happen: This is a ladder match for the title. I'd like to think that Michaels would win, just to see him with a major belt again, but I don't think it's going to happen. WWE has Batista waiting in the wings to battle Jericho. That being said, it might be a while before we get to that since the Jericho-Michaels championship series might go for several months. At any rate, get ready for a match-of-the-year candidate.

What Will Happen: Jericho will retain.

What Did Happen: Jericho won the ladder match, and kept his belt. Stellar stuff.

That'll do it. Speaking of stellar, I had six right and one wrong this time around. My only miscue -- the women's title match, and I almost called that one perfectly as well. I still amaze myself. One more thing before the bell rings, don't forget to listen to the latest edition of "Old School, New School." Episode 87 (an amazing audio treat) of the Prof. Wrestling podcast can be heard RIGHT HERE! Download it immediately, or risk having a dunce cap slapped on your head.

That's it. Class is … dismissed!
