About 150 Huntington Park High school students left their classrooms on Friday morning to protest an immigration bill due before Congress on Monday.

Television images showed a half-mile-long line of students marching down a street, carrying flags and signs.

The student protest came a day before a larger rally planned in Los Angeles on Saturday, in which immigrant-rights groups were scheduled to gather to protest the legislation.

The bill seeks to build more walls along the U.S.-Mexico border and make helping illegal immigrants a criminal offense.
