Churchill To Appear In HBO Documentary
Documentary To Focus On Free Speech

DENVER -- Professor Ward Churchill will be featured in a upcoming HBO documentary about free speech.The documentary is called "Shouting Fire: Stories from the Edge of Free Speech" and will feature key players in the controversial academic-misconduct case surrounding Churchill, reported the Boulder Daily Camera.The film is directed by Oscar-nominated director Liz Garbus.
"They fired Churchill because of his academic misconduct," Martin Garbus said in the documentary. "They discovered skeletons in his closet. I think the real reason was because of the speeches he made concerning 9/11."The segment includes clips from Fox News and an interview with conservative activist and author David Horowitz.Churchill was fired from the University of Colorado after the regents claimed he had committed widespread academic fraud, including plagiarism and fabricating facts.He sued the university and won after arguing the university fired him because of a controversial essay Churchill wrote about 9/11.The jury awarded Churchill $1 in damages. He says he wants his job at CU back.The university denies it fired Churchill because of his essay.
