More than a dozen high school students in Arizona were examined after a "soda bottle bomb" exploded in a trash can and released a chemical in a classroom, police said.

Fire and hazmat crews were called out to Willow Canyon High School in Surprise, Ariz., late Wednesday morning, television station KPHO reported.

A statement posted on the Dysart Unified School District's Web site said firefighters evacuated the building as a precaution until the safety of air quality could be ensured.

Students who were in the classroom at the time of the explosion were evaluated. No one was hurt.

Students with classes in the building were relocated to other areas of the campus, according to the district's Web site.

Police said they took one teenager who allegedly made the bomb into custody.

Authorities believe it was a prank.
