Day Care Cameras Gives Parents Peace Of Mind

Real-Time Video Lets Parents Keep An Eye On Their Kids

An Edgewater day care center is giving parents a chance to watch their children with a click of the mouse.

Klare Looney decided to open her own day care, Lightway at Sloans, 5440 W. 25th Ave., when she became frustrated trying to find child care for her own son, Kale.

“I just wanted the intimate, family feel,” she said.

She also wanted to be able to see her son whenever she felt the urge.

So, she hired a company specializing in day care camera systems to install five cameras in the building.

“It eliminates, I think, a lot of the guilt, because you still can see and you do know what’s going on,” Looney said.

Parents get an access code and can log on anytime to watch their child.

Looney says the $8,000 system is very secure.

The day care can track who is logging on, when and for how long.

They believe it’s the way day cares will do business in the future.

ABCKam.com, the company that installed the system, says daycare cameras are already popular on the East and West coasts and in Texas, but this is the first system they’ve installed at a day care in the Denver area.
