Local School Aces Report Card

While some schools dread the annual State School Accountability Report, others use it to help them succeed even more.

The school report cards came out late Tuesday. One school's neighborhood is celebrating its performance ranking.

The performance at Bromwell Elementary is top notch. The Denver Public School went from a high ranking on the school accountability report, to the highest category possible.

"We were very pleased to find that Bromwell was rated excellent this year," said principal Jonathan Wolfer.

Bromwell's excellent ranking is more than just a sense of pride for the school, but for the whole neighborhood, it has helped improve the area. Some homeowners are even touting it when they sell their home.

"Whenever you drive around Cherry Creek North and you see houses for sale and above the realty sign it says Bromwell Elementary as an advertisement for that house," said Wolfer. "It does make you proud."

"Good schools are a selling point in any neighborhood and if you can that, it will help your home value," said parent Robin Fleischmann.

Aside from good CSAP scores, Bromwell puts a lot of stock in attitude and community involvement.

"Our parents raise an enormous amount of money to not only support academic programs but extracurricular programs like art and music," said Wolfer.

"So, there's lots of parental involvement and I think people are very excited about what goes on at the school and support the teachers so they can do what they're supposed to do: teach our kids," said Fleischmann.

Bromwell's high marks truly are a community effort and an example of successful accountability.
