Digital television -- DTV -- is a new type of broadcasting. Because DTV is delivered digitally, the signal is virtually free of interference. It is more efficient than analog, giving improved pictures and sound while leaving room for other serivces such as weather information. Although the last day for the analog broadcasting system was originally scheduled for mid-February, it was later pushed back, with all analog signals ending June 12.
DTV Vs. HDTV
Digital TV is not the same as HDTV. It is a different way of sending the information. While HDTV will also be carried on DTV, that refers to increased sharpness in picture and sound.Where Is Analog Going?
The frequencies currently used for analog broadcasts will be auctioned and used for other forms of communication.Distributed by Internet Broadcasting. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
