Shannon started her professional TV news career in the Front Range region: Scottsbluff, Nebraska and Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Covering the news in those small cities involved a certain amount of multi-tasking. For the weekend newscasts, she did all the videography, editing, reporting, producing, even weather and sports! For a good laugh, she'll even recount the story of having to scale the outside of the 2-story studio in a blinding snowstorm to sweep out the satellite dishes.
Prior to joining Denver's 7 News, Shannon also worked at TV stations in Seattle, Portland, Spokane and Reno. She's always enjoyed the challenge of covering breaking events out in
the field, whether it's the rescue of lost skiers in the Cascade Mountains, or the lockdown of the county jail in the wake of the WTO riots.
Her reporting has earned her regional top honors from the Society of Professional Journalists for a series of reports on Nevada's vanishing resources, and several Emmy nominations for Spot and General News Coverage.
She feels her most valuable work comes when a story prompts change; for instance, a series of her reports helped secure the location for the Nevada Peace Officers' Memorial.
For someone who's moved around a lot, Shannon likes to put down "roots", as in gardening! That's one of her favorite hobbies in her off-time. She also enjoys volunteer activities, for the Junior League and other organizations. Her most rewarding experience came in mentoring a young single mother of twins.
A graduate of Pacific Lutheran University, Shannon grew up in Arizona and in Seattle, but is happy to make Denver her new home!
