DENVER -- KMGH-TV this weekend was awarded the Emmy for Station Excellence from the National Academy of Television Arts and Science Heartland Chapter. This regional Emmy award recognizes a television station's commitment to excellence in the work it does on and off the air. The Emmy is awarded for the quality of work and the commitment to excellence in serving the community and the people in it."Our efforts in news, community outreach and public service were the only efforts in 2008 to reach the level of excellence to award an Emmy in the Heartland Chapter," said KMGH-TV General Manager Byron Grandy.
Mike Landess also received a Silver Circle award for his service to the industry. He joins Bertha Lynn and John Ferrugia in recent years in receiving this honor.KMGH-TV also received Emmys for best evening newscast, breaking news, investigative series, news anchor and weather anchor."Every Emmy is equal, but there are certain categories that match the direction of our newsroom, and we swept each and every one. We won in the category of Evening Newscast for our 10pm show; Breaking News; Investigative Series; News Anchor; and Weather Anchor," News Director Jeff Harris said. "We also threw in victories in Live Reporting and Specialty Reporting as well. The Emmy for Theresa as news anchor is even more interesting because she won for her work anchoring Election Night on 24/7 and TheDenverChannel."Theresa Marchetta anchored several hours of election coverage, exclusively on KMGH-TV's alternative platforms -- 24/7 or Comcast Channel 247 -- the only local 24-hour news station, and TheDenverChannel.com -- the Web site for 7NEWS.KMGH-TV also received Emmys for:Evening Newscast "7NEWS at 10 p.m."
