ASPEN, Colo. -- Former tennis great Chris Evert and her husband, former Olympic ski racer Andy Mill, said that the last visitor to their Aspen home was just unbearable.
Evert (pictured, left) and Mill live in the exclusive Starwood subdivision, made famous by John Denver, but both have found out that the subdivision is not exclusive to bears.
"We walked in and we had a bear in our kitchen," Evert told the Aspen Daily News. "He was just eating in the kitchen."
Evert said that one of the couple's three children had left a screen door open. "He just created a mess ... I heard a rustling in the kitchen and I said to Andy, 'I think we have a visitor in the kitchen.'"
Husband Andy gave out with "a really loud whistle" and "the bear ran right past him."
With garbage pickup the following day, the couple had left six plastic bags of trash in the kitchen. "He had taken them and thrown them all over the floor," she said.
"It was a big black bear. A real wide, big black bear," Evert said.
Evert currently provides tennis commentary for NBC Sports and Mill works for the Outdoor Life TV network hosting fishing shows.
