Negotiations Continue In Alleged 'Columbine-Style' Attack Case
Attorney Wants No Jail Time For Boy Accused Of Conspiracy
A boy accused of conspiring to plot a Columbine-style attack on his school is negotiating for a plea agreement with authorities.
The attorney the 14-year-old said that the district attorney's
office would have to agree to not put him behind bars if
his client is to plead guilty.
"I hope we can reach a reasonable resolution," attorney Erik Fischer said.
A preliminary hearing is set for March 28.
The boy is in his parents' custody on an ankle monitor.
Authorities have said that they found detailed plans and graphic
drawings suggesting that the suspect and two other boys planned to
shoot students at Preston Junior High School and explode a propane
tank. Fischer has said that the plans were never meant to be executed.
Two 14-year-olds are charged in juvenile court with conspiracy
to commit first-degree murder and being aggravated juvenile
offenders. One also is charged with felony menacing.
A 15-year-old is also charged with conspiracy to commit
first-degree assault in connection with the same case.
All three boys have been expelled from school.
