While full containment was expected by Sunday night for the state's largest wildfire ever, crews have pushed that target time back until Monday evening at the latest.
Although this is the fourth time firefighters have postponed their estimate of when the Hayman Blaze would be contained, it is well ahead of the 70 to 90 days that had been predicted just after the blaze started.
Nearly 100 miles of containment lines had to be dug around the massive fire.
It's burned 137,760 acres and destroyed 600 structures. It's 90 percent contained.
The last evacuation orders were lifted Saturday and nearly all residents have returned home, although some need Forest Service permits to return to their homes.
The cost of fighting the fire is estimated at $30.9 million.
In Durango, the second largest fire in the state, the Missionary Ridge Fire was relatively quiet all Sunday, until the evening when flames raced through the trees and caused additional evacuations of seven subdivisions.
The Missionary Ridge Fire remains at 71,000 acres and 40 percent containment
