Las Vegas, NV -- (Sports Network) - Luke Nevill finished with 23 points and 15 rebounds, as Utah topped Wyoming, 68-55, to reach the championship game of the Mountain West Conference Tournament. Utah (23-9) advanced to face San Diego State in Saturday's title game, with the winner getting the automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. SDSU edged No.25 BYU, 64-62, earlier Friday in the other semifinal. Carlon Brown added 13 points for the Utes, who have won three in a row. Luka Drca added nine points in the win, as Utah shot 44.6 percent from the floor. Brandon Ewing had 13 points to pace Wyoming (19-13), which defeated New Mexico in Thursday's quarterfinals but dropped Friday's game after shooting only 34 percent. Sean Ogirri added 12 points, and made the Cowboys' only three-pointer out of 10 attempts. In a tie game early on, Utah gained some separation with a 13-0 run. Nevill scored the first seven points in the stretch, and capped it with a free throw for a 19-6 Utes lead. Wyoming later ripped off eight consecutive points to get within 23-18 with about 7 1/2 minutes remaining. But moments later, Brown hit a three-pointer and followed with a layup. Kim Tillie then added a dunk to put Utah ahead 33-21. The Cowboys scored the final five points of the half to get within 35-29 at the break. Brown began the second half with two free throws, and Shaun Green added a three for the Utes to take a 40-29 lead. Utah continued to hold a lead of about 10 points until Wyoming scored six consecutive points. Ewing had the final two on free throws to get the Cowboys within 48-43. But Nevill countered with back-to-back jumpers, then followed with a free throw for a 53-43 Utah lead. Nevill's run of points came just before the midway point, and the Utes were able to maintain the margin the rest of the way.
