Texas' James To Return For Senior Season

POSTED: 3:42 pm MDT June 13, 2009

(Sports Network) - Texas guard/forward Damion James announced Saturday he will withdraw his name from this month's NBA Draft and return to Austin for his senior year with the Longhorns.

"This process has been a great learning experience. I've been able to get a much better understanding of how the NBA works and what they are looking for from me. That will definitely help when I go through this process again next year," James said in a statement released by the school.

James led the Longhorns in rebounding (9.2 rpg) and double-doubles (16) while ranking second in scoring (15.4 ppg) behind A.J. Abrams this past season.

Texas ended its 2008-09 campaign 23-12 with a 9-7 mark in Big 12-play. The Longhorns were bounced by Baylor in the conference semifinals but went on to score a NCAA Tournament win against Minnesota before falling to Duke in the second round.
