POSTED: 11:32 pm MST November 20, 2009

(Sports Network) - Phillip McDonald scored 18 points, leading four starters in double figures, as the New Mexico Lobos posted an 83-59 win over the Nicholls State Colonels as part of the Basketball Travelers World Vision Classic.

Darington Hobson accounted for 14 points for the Lobos (3-0), Dairese Gary 13 points and Roman Martinez 10 and eight rebounds in the victory.

The Colonels (0-3) were paced by Anatoly Bose who delivered a game-high 20 points, thanks in large part to 10-of-11 shooting at the free-throw line. Kenny Franklin Jr. chipped in 10 points off the bench as well.

Nicholls State managed to take a two-point lead early in the first half, but shooting only 29.6 percent from the field led the team to a 37-25 deficit at the break.

In the second half the Colonels bounced back with an impressive 52.6 percent from the floor, but the Lobos locked up the win by shooting 18-of-23 at the free-throw line in the second half to secure the 24-point win.

In addition to outscoring the visitors at the charity stripe, 28-16, New Mexico also forced 17 turnovers on the night.
