POSTED: 1:40 pm MST December 20, 2008

(Sports Network) - Chris Wright poured in 19 points and DaJuan Summers added 13, as No. 15 Georgetown held off Mount St. Mary's, 69-58, at the Verizon Center.

Austin Freeman donated 10 points and seven rebounds for the Hoyas (8-1), who won despite making just 38 percent of their shots and 25-of-38 free throws (65.8 percent).

Kelly Beidler led Mount St. Mary's (3-7) with 16 points and eight rebounds, while Sam Atupem collected 12 points and eight rebounds. Mount St. Mary's was competitive throughout the contest, a trait it has displayed all season, with five of its seven losses coming by five or fewer points.

Mount St. Mary's got off to a solid start, reeling off six of the game's first eight points. Beilder's free throw with 7:07 to go again put the underdog's in front, 20-19.

Georgetown composed itself and scored 14 of the half's final 18 points to take a nine-point lead, 32-23. Free throws by Wright and Julian Vaughn followed by a Jessie Sapp trey capped the scoring.

The Hoyas maintained a somewhat comfortable lead during the early and middle stages of the second half, jumping in front 58-45 on a Summers' three with 7:04 remaining in the contest.

It wasn't as relaxing down the stretch for the Hoyas, who saw Mount St. Mary's cut the deficit to six points before finally relenting late. Atupem started the stretch with a lay-in for a 58-47 score, and a trey and dunk by Beidler made the score, 58-52.

Georgetown regained its offensive form, as Sapp's jumper with 2:47 to go increased the lead back to double digits at 62-52. The Hoyas finished off the contest from there.
