NCAA Game Summary - Monmouth At Villanova

Villanova, PA -- (Sports Network) - Dante Cunningham scored 19 points and had seven rebounds, as 20th-ranked Villanova overwhelmed Monmouth for a 71-48 victory at The Pavilion. Corey Stokes added 18 points and seven boards for the Wildcats (4-0) in the win, part of the Philly Hoop Group Classic. Shane Clark chipped in 10 points for Villanova. Yaniv Simpson was the only player in double figures for Monmouth (0-5) with 11 points. Mike Myers Keitt had nine points in the loss for the Hawks. It was a blowout almost from the beginning, as Villanova went on a 29-4 run that took up most of the first half. Monmouth's James Hett got a layup almost five minutes into the game to bring his team within 11-7, but the Wildcats started pouring in baskets. A Cunningham jumper with 13 minutes left put 'Nova up 19-9, and the school's lead was at 29-11 after a pair of Scottie Reynolds free throws with a little over six minutes remaining. A triple from Stokes with 2:27 left boosted Villanova's advantage to 40-11, and it stood at 45-13 at the break, and the Wildcats were able to cruise during the second half.Game Notes:Villanova shot 51.6 percent from the floor in the first half, while limiting Monmouth to 23.8 percent...Stokes made 5-of-11 three-point attempts...Each team made 11-of-13 free throw attempts.
