LIU Extends Ferry's Contract

POSTED: 6:40 pm MDT April 23, 2009

(Sports Network) - Long Island University has extended the contract of men's basketball head coach Jim Ferry. Terms weren't disclosed.

Ferry just finished his seventh year at LIU and is coming off a 16-14 finish, the program's best season since 1997-98. That included a 12-6 Northeast Conference mark.

Over the last two seasons, LIU has enjoyed its best back-to-back seasons since 1996-97 and 1997-98.

"Jim has done a great job for us with the success of his teams on the court and their work in the classroom," said LIU athletics director John Suarez said. "We are delighted that he will be the coach at LIU for years to come. With the success of the last two seasons, in addition to our beautiful new facility, we are very excited about the present and future of LIU basketball."

Ferry has compiled an 84-117 mark over seven seasons at LIU.
