Fairfield, CT -- (Sports Network) - Derek Needham scored 19 points to power the Fairfield Stags to a 63-55 victory over the Fordham Rams in a non-conference tilt.

Anthony Johnson had 13 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks for Fairfield (2-0), which got 13 points and 10 rebounds from Shimeek Johnson. Ryan Olander added 10 points for the Stags.

Jio Fontan posted 13 points in the loss for Fordham (0-2), which got 12 points apiece from Fahro Alihodzic and Alberto Estwick.

Fordham jumped out to an early 17-8 advantage, but Fairfield fought back and tied the score at 30-30 by intermission

A 17-3 advantage in points from the foul line over the final 20 minutes led the Stags to victory.

Fairfield won the game despite shooting 29.4 percent from the floor while finishing with eight assists against 14 turnovers.
