NCAA Game Summary - B-Y-U At Hawaii

(Sports Network) - Jimmer Fredette scored a game-high 20 points, leading four starters in double figures, as the BYU Cougars dismissed the Hawaii Warriors, 83-65, in non-conference action at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Fredette, who shot 9-of-14 from the floor, also handed out eight assists for the Cougars (3-0), while Jonathan Tavernari checked in with 17 points, followed by Tyler Haws and Jackson Emery with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

The Warriors (2-2) were paced by Hiram Thompson with 15 points, six rebounds and five steals. Petras Balocka posted a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds, followed by Roderick Flemings and Adhar Mayen with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Hawaii led by a basket early in the first half, but after that the meeting belonged to the Cougars as the visitors shot 54.5 percent from the field to claim a 41-31 lead at the break.

In the second half BYU continued to knock down shots on a regular basis, converting 57.1 percent en route to the 18-point road win.

The Warriors led the way on the glass, 37-27, but the team shot less than 40 percent from the field and was guilty of 20 turnovers on the night.
