(Sports Network) - Jimmer Fredette put up a game-high 22 points as the BYU Cougars crushed the Idaho State Bengals, 87-53, in non-conference action at the Marriott Center.

Also scoring in double figures for the Cougars (2-0) was Emery Jackson who dropped in 19 points on 5-of-8 shooting behind the three-point line.

The Bengals (0-3) were led by Amorrow Morgan with his 13 points on just 3- of-13 shooting from the floor. Deividas Busma contributed 11 points and Demetrius Monroe seven and 11 rebounds in the third setback in as many outings for ISU to begin the season.

Idaho State held a brief three-point lead early in the first half, but after making just eight total field goals in the frame the visitors had to settle for a 43-24 deficit at the break.

In the second half BYU's defense held the Bengals to just 9-of-26 shooting from the floor and 0-of-5 beyond the arc, en route to the easy 34-point triumph.

Forcing 16 turnovers on the night, the Cougars traded in those miscues for 25 points as they cruised to the victory.
