POSTED: 8:05 pm MST March 7, 2005

John Reimold poured in 38 points to lift the Bowling Green Falcons to a 75-73 decision over the Ball State Cardinals in the opening round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament.

Josh Almanson tallied 20 points for Bowling Green (18-10), which will take on top-seeded Miami-Ohio in the quarterfinal round.

Julien Mills scored 25 points in the setback for Ball State (15-13), while Terrance Chapman and Anthony Kent contributed 12 points for the Cardinals.

Bowling Green jumped out to a 45-30 lead at intermission after shooting 65.2 percent from the floor in the first half, including 7-of-11 from three-point range.

The Cardinals got back into the game with 58.3 percent shooting from the field in the second half, but the Falcons were able to hold on for the narrow victory.

A 20-of-24 effort from the foul line certainly factored into the win for Bowling Green.

Reimold, who hit 6-of-12 three-pointers, recorded the second-most points in MAC Tournament history.
