MRI Shows Minor Knee Injury To UCLA's Gordon

POSTED: 7:04 pm MDT June 18, 2009

(Sports Network) - UCLA forward Drew Gordon underwent an MRI exam Thursday, which showed a minor injury to his patellar tendon in his right knee.

The school announced earlier this week that Gordon partially tore the tendon, but in a release Thursday UCLA said the injury will not require surgery and that Gordon will start rehabilitation in one week.

The injury occurred at the 2009 USA Basketball U19 World Championship team trials in Colorado Springs.

In his first year with the Bruins last season, Gordon averaged nearly 11 minutes per game, logging 3.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per contest.

DeMarcus Cousins chipped in 14 points and seven rebounds, while Patrick Patterson and Darius Miller added nine apiece for the Wildcats (5-0), who played their first four games at the friendly confines of Rupp Arena. Kentucky will next play either Virginia or Stanford on Wednesday, while Cleveland State will face the loser of that matchup. D'Aundray Brown finished with 10 points for the Vikings (3-2), who had a three-game winning streak snapped. Jeremy Montgomery and Jared Cunningham contributed 10 and nine points, respectively, but Cleveland State shot 26.6 percent overall from the field.
