Credit Card Offers You May Not Want To Pass Up

POSTED: 5:30 p.m. MST February 7, 2003

These days, even a little bit may be too much, because some credit card offers right now offer zero percent, for a year or more -- sometimes even on cash advances.

Remember the average Visa or MasterCard rate is about 14 per cent. There's no good reason for you to pay even that much unless you have a very shaky credit record.

Some of the big players are fighting hard to get your business, and here's what you may have overlooked in your mailbox lately:

Bank One has a card with no interest on transferred balances, and that is good until the beginning of December.

On Citibank's at&t Universal Card, transfer your balance and it's zero interest until April of next year.

MBNA's Elite Rewards Platinum Plus has an interest free deal good through the end of September. However, it also includes interest free cash advances.

The fine print?

The interest free offer may not apply to new purchases, or you may have to pay the normal interest rate on everything, old debts and new, if you buy anything on the zero interest card!

You may even pay a fee to transfer your current debt.

You'll pay plenty in fees if you don't make the monthly minimum payment on time and you'll pay big time if you go over your credit limit.
