Our Denver7 Special Olympics reporters, Hanna Atkinson and Connor Long caught up with the unified basketball team at Regis High School. They sat down with Kate McDonald, a senior and veteran unified basketball player at Regis High School.

Kate is the president of the Special Olympics Club at her school.

“I would tell other people to get involved, whether they want to meet fun people, it’s a good community that not a lot of people are aware of," McDonald said.

Kate’s mom said it’s been a pleasure watching her kids grow through unified sports, a life-changing program. She even choked up when describing a big event coming up in which Kate has planned.

Kate is raising money for Special Olympics Colorado by doing a dance marathon on March 19.  The dance goes from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Regis Jesuit High School.
