Doug Schepman grew up in The Bluegrass State and graduated from Northern Kentucky University in 1994. His career has taken him to TV stations in Dayton, Ohio; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Colorado Springs before settling down at 7NEWS in 2002.

Doug is a new breed of reporter called a "Backpack Journalist." With 14 years of experience telling stories as a videographer, he has now stepped in front of the camera. Equipped with a small HD-cam and a laptop computer, he can go anywhere a story takes him.

"It is definitely a challenge to shoot, write, and edit a news story, especially under deadline. However, managing all aspects of a feature can be very rewarding," he said.

"My goal in storytelling is to help the viewer feel something. The assignments that I enjoy most are human interest stories. I am always amazed by the kindness and generosity of people, as well as their perseverance in overcoming life's challenges. It is an honor to share their stories with the viewers of 7NEWS."

Doug is married and has four beautiful children. In his spare time he enjoys cycling, skiing, photography, and playing guitar.
