LOVELAND, Colo. -- Can you name a place where you spent 400 hours in the last year? Was it a classroom? It is no wonder this 7Everyday Hero might be mistaken for a teacher. Jody Shadduck-McNally leads the Junior Achievement lesson third-graders at Loveland's Namaqua Elementary School. The lessons teach students about differnt jobs, including being a reporter."We learn a lot of big words, and we learn how to be a reporter," said Gracy, a third-grader.
"I like you get to pretend you own the job you do," said Steve, a third-grader.Shadduck-McNally started volunteering at the school when her own son was young and just kept on giving her time."She has been volunteering for me for nine years," said Doide Schroeder, a third-grade teacher.Shadduck-McNally also helps run a math club which has blossomed because of her devotion to the kids."So, she went to the parent committee and asked for funds. And then she went out and purchased all the games. She has trained all the volunteers," said Schroeder.Shadduck-McNally believes she gets more out of her volunteering than she gives."It fills my bucket everyday, and the kids are wonderful, and teachers, staff and principal are all welcoming, and they are just wonderful people to help," said Shadduck-McNally.The students and teachers think she is wonderful, too."She is fun to have and she always has something fun to do for us when we come in," said Gracy.
