It takes a village to put on the Bolder Boulder. And if you have run any of the 31 annual races, you have probably seen this week's 7Everyday Hero.

Dan McCarthy makes ensures a quality start each year. It is no easy task, with up to 55,000 runners. McCarthy has volunteered for the Bolder Boulder each year since 1979.

"I don't know if I'm a 'top dog' volunteer - but I'm certainly an old volunteer with a lot of experience," said McCarthy. 3,000 volunteers donated their time this year - but returning volunteers like McCarthy, keep the Bolder Boulder on track.

"Probably our single hardest job is 'how do you train 29-hundred people for a four or five hour job?'" said Race Director Cliff Bosley. "We're lucky he's a part of it."
