Optimist clubs worldwide help bring out the best in children. One local club, has a unique way of doing that - they use a giant bumble bee!

Each week Optimist Club of Tamarac members volunteer to help students at Holly Ridge Primary School in Denver with their reading.

"When you visit their homes you'll see 70 different languages spoken. So, these children come sometimes for the first time to school here, and go home and teach their parents and their siblings so much," said Dottie Jefferies, this week's 7Everyday Hero. Jefferies dresses up as a giant bumble bee to help children with their reading skills. She has been part of the B.U.G. Program for five years. It stands for Bringing Up Grades.

This is the first time we have ever presented a 7Everyday Hero plaque to a bee.
